Beyond Maternal Skin To Skin

Did you know about all the benefits of PATERNAL/PARTNER SKIN TO SKIN after the mother and baby do their skin to skin time? This is important for more then just the usual cis parent dynamics too. Adoptive parents, intended parents in surrogacy, and even siblings can aid in the transition to the outside world be smoother and solidify strong bonds from the very beginning!

According to twelve studies (10 quantitative and two qualitative) included in this review: “Father-infant skin-to-skin contact had positive impacts on infants' outcomes, including temperature and pain, bio-physiological markers, behavioral response, as well as paternal outcomes, which include parental role attainment, paternal interaction behavior, and paternal stress and anxiety.”

Also...

In another large study, it was found that fathers who engage in skin to skin with their newborns a minimum of 15 minutes per day for the first three days reported a closer bond felt between them and the infant. It also helps infant’s immune systems, temperature regulation and it also increases their hydration! (Found on nuroobaby.com)
